Zero Tolerance

The NHS enforces a Zero Tolerance Policy concerning violence and abuse. As part of this policy, the practice reserves the right to immediately remove violent patients from the patient list to protect the safety of staff, patients, and others attending the surgery.

In this context, violence includes both actual and threatened physical violence, as well as verbal abuse that causes fear for an individual’s safety. Should such an incident occur, we are required to notify the patient in writing about their removal from the list and document the reason for their removal in the patient’s medical record.
